Rumah Roso in Yogyakarta

We were in Jogja for a really short duration (2 nights) coz our sole purpose was Borobodur. We arrived in Jogja pretty late too, about 5pm. We will only need the basic, such as:

  1. Bed
  2. Shower (unattached bathroom is ok)
  3. Good location

Although we would be happy to settle for the basic, but Rumah Roso offers much more. It is a steal.

Properties:
Rumah Roso Homestay
Jalan Langenarjan Kidul No. 5B - Panembahan Kraton
Mantrijeron, 55131 Yogyakarta, Indonesia
Phone: +62811293034
GPS coordinates: S 007° 48.821, E 110° 21.794

How much?
Rp250,000 for a double room (2 nights). Book from booking.com.

What will you get?
  • Air Conditioning
  • Desk
  • Shared Bathroom / toilet
  • Free toiletries
  • Breakfast included

How to get there?
We chose the adventurous way: public transport 😅
  1. Once arrived in Adisucipto International Airport, check if you are at the main building? The public bus 'TransJogja' stand is at the main building. We were not, exiting the gate we saw many taxi drivers pushing to give us a ride. The main building is another 500m to the right. The 500m side walk is roofed.
  2. At the main building, ask for TransJogja bus stand.
  3. Tell the TransJogja staff that you want to go Jalan Mayjend Sutoyo. The ticket is Rp3,500 and probably transit at Giwangan Bus Station. (At the time of operating, we got on TransJogja 3B)
  4. A map that I found at Giwangan Bus Station. X is Rumah Roso
  5. Alight at Jalan Mayjend Sutoyo bus stop. You will see Daihatsu Dealer across the road.
  6. From here, Rumah Roso is just another 400m. We chose to get a becak coz we don't feel like dragging our suitcase looking in the dark (around 7pm). It was pretty expensive, Rp 20,000 for another 400m? But the Becak uncle said 'cari sampai dapat'. That assurance convince me. Another reason is, you can see the blue-box marked in the map above, there is a tunnel you have to go through (before turning right to Rumah Roso). I'm not confident to drag my suitcase with the busy traffic through the tunnel.

400m  from Jl. Mayjend Sutoyo bus stop to Rumah Roso

This is what you should see across Jl. Mayjend Sutoyo bus stop

Go through this tunnel and Rumah Roso just a stone throw away 😀
